A Japanese High Court has recently ruled that Sony will have to pay an ex-employee ¥5.1 million for his invention of technology used in the PlayStation consoles. This ruling overturns a ruling from the lower court.

Hidehiro Kume, 58, had been seeking 100 million yen for his invention of a small optical pickup used to play and record data on optical discs for the PlayStation Consoles.
